- Scribble Synth v1.0 demo
- (6th April1 1998)
-
- This is a partially functional version of Electronic Cow's Scribble
- Synth software sythesizer, and is public domain. This means that
- this version may be freely distributed as long as all the files
- remain together and unaltered. Permission is also granted for
- inclusion on cover-mount CD-ROMs, disk, or compilation
- CD-ROMs, PD libraries, WWW pages, and FTP sites.
-
- Please note that Electronic Cow cannot be held responsible for
- any loss or damage to your system that occurs during the
- use/misuse of this program. But hey, it works - the moral is don't
- tamper with it, otherwise it won't!
-
- Scribble Synth is an additive synthesizer, but with a twist! You
- actually 'scribble' in frequency envelopes, which are then
- transformed into samples...
-
- A Very Brief Guide to Creating a Sound
- STEP 1:
- Press button '1', to choose slice 1, and then pick the pencil tool. In
- the draw pad (the huge blank bit), 'draw' a frequency envelope.
- Click outside the pad when finished and a plot willl be drawn.
- Press the eraser button if you don't like it, and start again (the
- demo restricts the band resolution to five - the full version can
- have up to twenty!). This part has been updated since earlier demo
- versions and will now better interpolate scribbles.
-
- STEP 2:
- Repeat the process for slices 2 and 3. If you don't want to use
- these slices, then click on the corresponding LED to switch them
- off.
-
- STEP 3:
- Select the upper and lower frequency bands; the lower determines
- the fundamental, whilst the highest is band five. All the
- intermediate bands' frequencies are linearly distributed: band #1
- is 10Hz, and band 5 is set to 50Hz, therefore 2 = 20Hz, 3 = 30Hz,
- and 4 = 40Hz. The minimum frequency band for the entire sound
- is 10Hz.
-
- STEP 4:
- Press the calculator button, and then the play button when
- Scribble has finished rendering your sample. Easy!
-
-
- The full version removes all restrictions imposed on the demo
- (sample export, MIDI sample dump, up to 20 frequency bands per
- slice, with all five bands active, and custom frequency maps), oh,
- and it comes with instructions, plus free user support and
- upgrades...
